Former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski appears to be profiting off the chatter surrounding his potential return from retirement. Gronk appeared on Instagram on Sunday morning to say that he’s got a big announcement coming on Tuesday.

Sorry Patriots fans, it’s unlikely Gronkowski will be announcing his return to New England.

  1. Gronkowski’s injury history is insanely long, and until or unless you’ve experienced some of these, it’s hard to actually appreciate how debilitating they are: A complete look at Gronk's injury history In addition to the torn ACL/MCL.
  2. A couple weeks back, Gronkowski’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said that a decision would likely becoming in a couple weeks. Given the new league year begins in a matter of days, it would be.
  3. After Brady declared he and the Bucs are 'coming back' in 2021, Gronkowski made it clear he plans to do the same. Gronk said he is coming back next season. Said this is just first time he’s a free agent in his career.

Considering Gronk was wearing a hat with a CBD logo, it’s far more likely Gronk is using the intrigue surrounding a potential return from retirement to help promote the company CBDMedic, where he’s partnering to help sell their products. The announcement Tuesday is likely related to his work with that company.

Gronk seems to be transitioning nicely into his new role as a salesman. This phrasing — “big announcement” — will certainly get people monitoring his social media accounts. If Gronk is to come out of retirement and rejoin the Patriots, he has to report to the team before Saturday, Nov. 30.

Rumors of Gronk coming out of retirement and returning to play for the Patriots this year will not die. Here is why the tight end's potential return makes sense.

A month has passed since the New England Patriots won Super Bowl LIII over the Los Angeles Rams, and Rob Gronkowski has yet to announce his intentions for the 2019 NFL season.

After the Super Bowl, Gronk said he’d need a couple of weeks to think about his future before making a decision. Yet here we are, and there’s been nary a peep from him or his camp about what he will do.

However, one report suggests that this delay, along with some other information, could mean the Patriots will have Gronk back for at least one more season.

On WEEI’s “Mut & Callahan,” Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk shared that he was told before the Super Bowl that if the tight end got out of the big game healthy, and if his best bud Tom Brady was going to play next year, that there was a “good chance” he’d come back in 2019.

“I was told on Super Bowl Sunday that if he emerges from the Super Bowl healthy and he knows Brady is all in for another year, there’s a good chance he comes back, which is a surprise,” Florio said. “It is a major shift from how he was thinking a year ago. But he got through the year largely unscathed. He’s healthy. He’s feeling good. Maybe he’s thinking, and maybe Tom Brady has been working on him, maybe that Alex Guerrero book has got him something in his avocado ice cream that is making him love football a little bit more.”

Florio then said that “the longer this goes on — when he said after the Super Bowl he would make his decision in a week or two, that told me he would announce the decision he already made in a week or two and he’s retiring. Here we are a month later, and he hasn’t announced a decision yet. Maybe he is thinking about it a little bit longer than he did last year.”

Last season was a trying one for Gronkowski, who once again got banged up throughout the campaign. Yet when it mattered most, he was at his best, and better yet, he was healthy.

A couple weeks back, Gronkowski’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said that a decision would likely becoming in a couple weeks. Given the new league year begins in a matter of days, it would be surprising if things dragged on much longer. So, stay tuned!
